About the position
The Global Payroll Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting to ensure all payroll (US and international) processes and payroll-related tax filings are completed accurately and timely for both Internet Society and Internet Society Foundation. The position will also support Finance in ensuring all payroll transactions are accurately reported, recorded, and reconciled in our financial systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of global payroll processes and serve as the payroll expert for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all payroll systems, processes, and controls.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and payroll service providers to ensure timely and accurate US and international payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Review and verify payroll change requests, and process bi-monthly and monthly payroll for over 150 global employees.
- Set up payroll tax accounts with appropriate tax authorities as needed and ensure all payroll-related tax filings are completed accurately and timely.
- Monitor payroll service providers’ payroll processing and compliance activities, and review outputs for completeness and accuracy.
- Support monthly journal entry processes for all payroll transactions, including adjustments and corrections.
- Support payroll reconciliations, including benefits and PTO liabilities, with the general ledger and maintain analysis of payroll accounts.
- Support external audits, Form 990, and other regulatory filings, by maintaining and providing payroll-related schedules, reports, and documentation to auditors.
- Communicate regularly with the manager, team members, and stakeholders regarding tasks or internal projects status and opportunities to harmonize payroll processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- BS/BA in Accounting/Finance preferred with a minimum of ten years of experience in payroll processing and management.
- Prior experience in global payroll processing, including strong global payroll knowledge and expertise.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment
- Excellent computer skills, advanced MS Excel skills, and proficiency with accounting, budgeting, and forecasting software are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of finance and accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
- Must be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.

- Experience working with a globally distributed workforce and ability to work across time zones.
- Familiarity and comfortability working on Macs are a plus.
