About the position

The Global Payroll Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting to ensure all payroll (US and international) processes and payroll-related tax filings are completed accurately and timely for both Internet Society and Internet Society Foundation. The position will also support Finance in ensuring all payroll transactions are accurately reported, recorded, and reconciled in our financial systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of global payroll processes and serve as the payroll expert for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all payroll systems, processes, and controls.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and payroll service providers to ensure timely and accurate US and international payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Review and verify payroll change requests, and process bi-monthly and monthly payroll for over 150 global employees.
  • Set up payroll tax accounts with appropriate tax authorities as needed and ensure all payroll-related tax filings are completed accurately and timely.
  • Monitor payroll service providers’ payroll processing and compliance activities, and review outputs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Support monthly journal entry processes for all payroll transactions, including adjustments and corrections.
  • Support payroll reconciliations, including benefits and PTO liabilities, with the general ledger and maintain analysis of payroll accounts.
  • Support external audits, Form 990, and other regulatory filings, by maintaining and providing payroll-related schedules, reports, and documentation to auditors.
  • Communicate regularly with the manager, team members, and stakeholders regarding tasks or internal projects status and opportunities to harmonize payroll processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting/Finance preferred with a minimum of ten years of experience in payroll processing and management.
  • Prior experience in global payroll processing, including strong global payroll knowledge and expertise.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Excellent computer skills, advanced MS Excel skills, and proficiency with accounting, budgeting, and forecasting software are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.

  • Experience working with a globally distributed workforce and ability to work across time zones.
  • Familiarity and comfortability working on Macs are a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

We are currently looking for an experienced and highly organised Senior Payroll Consultant to join a global payroll services organisation.

Responsible for providing global payroll advice to clients, supporting them with any payroll challenges including operational payroll and consulting on specific projects.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide knowledge and expertise to resolve any issues with the HMRC and other third parties.
  • Provide practical payroll advice to clients both onshore and offshore.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll information.
  • Liaise with clients and provide advice and guidance on payroll matters.
  • Ensure all projects are undertaken and completed on time.
  • Provide training and advice to other members of the payroll team onshore and offshore including system changes and payroll efficiencies.
  • Ensure that all payroll processes are compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Respond to customer queries in a timely manner.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience in a payroll environment ideally international knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of payroll legislation and processes.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of payroll software.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work accurately and with a high degree of integrity.

Job Description

The Global Payroll Senior Specialist operates the payroll function for a defined country and/or geographic region working directly with external payroll vendors. The Global Payroll Senior Specialist performs all tasks necessary to accomplish processing payroll. Responsibilities:

  • Execution of EMEA (Europe) and APAC (Asia Pacific) payrolls
  • Payroll processing and ensuring accuracy and processing any changes
  • Overseeing monthly social security and taxes for the various entities on a monthly basis
  • Overseeing/executing the annual tax statements by country
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all payroll processes, including maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Keeping up and actioning country-specific changes to ensure legal compliance
  • Partner with Global Rewards & HR Infrastructure team on documentation of payroll processes across regions, assessing practices to find process efficiencies
  • Process employee payroll payments on time and work directly with payroll provider
  • Run payroll reports to make sure time entries are correct, and salary information is entered accurately
  • Complete all reporting documents and review all payrolls for completeness prior to submission
  • Processing of payroll changes (including but not limited to new hires, terminations, and increases) and system upgrades, ensuring completed documentation at each step
  • Operates the merit and bonus process for the region including gathering the information, auditing, and submission to the payroll vendor(s)
  • Collaborate with People & Culture, Finance, and Senior Leadership teams
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in global payroll operations
  • Experience with payroll vendors and other scaled HCM applications
  • Experience with PEO (Professional Employment Organizations) including managing relationships
  • Solid experience in payroll administration and processes with an emphasis on process improvement – Tax and social contributions expertise
