About the Opportunity
It is an exciting time to be a part of Ceridian as we continue to grow and expand our geographic footprint. As a Payroll Specialist, you will administer and support end-to-end payroll for Ceridian’s current and future growth locations. Initially the primary focus will be on the UK and Germany but may also include other geographies as assigned. Participation in the process of tax payments and filings along with balancing and processing required year end tasks are crucial to this role. Subject matter expertise in labor, social security and tax laws and statutory leave and termination payments is critical. You will be connecting with employees on inquiries regarding payroll policies and procedures. As part of a dynamic Total Rewards Team, you will be given the opportunity to work with a team who supports and assists one another.
What you’ll get to do
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with company policies, practices and procedures as well as appropriate federal and state regulations
Reconcile payroll taxes at the employer and employee level by reviewing payroll tax reports
Prepare and file quarterly, monthly and/or annual payroll tax filings including any required fringe benefit tax returns and any other wage tax or social security obligations
Stays up to date with regulatory changes and proactively provide information and assistance related to payroll, to both internal and external stakeholders
Work with government agencies as required to investigates any issues
Process New Hires in payroll system and maintain required employee files
Audit and balances payroll data
Process attachment calculations and remittances
Set up one-time and other types of compensation payments and fringe benefits
Calculate and ensure retro and prorated payments, reimbursements and deductions are complete and accurate
Responsible for the processing of leaves and terminations including processing correct deductions, calculation and payment of statutory annual leave, personal leave etc. and produce forms such as the P45
Responsible for processing UK and Germany statutory payments such as but not limited to SSP and SMP
Assist with interpreting and communicating company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures to employees as needed
Provide high level of customer service to all levels of employees by responding to routine payroll inquiries
Ensure accurate and timely processing of off cycle payroll runs i.e. for bonus payments and terminations
Run and filter routine HRIS and payroll auditing reports via Dayforce HCM and MS Excel and distributes internally and to external third parties. May work with HRIS support to investigate any issues
Processing of year end and auditing of year end statements
Help ensure GDPR compliance
Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and experience we value
At least 3 years end to end experience in UK and/or Germany payroll, tax and social security filings and compliance for federal, state and/or local requirements
Technical aptitude toward understanding integrated Human Resource Information Systems and local payroll compliance. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
Strong knowledge of labor laws and payroll legislation
Must speak English
Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook
Excellent customer service including verbal and written communication to all levels of employees
Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy and quality while adhering to internal controls.
Completion of the Payroll Technician Certificate through the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals and/or comparable certificate in Germany Payroll
desire to learn labor laws and payroll legislation in additional jurisdictions as required
