Cygnet is one of the UK’s largest independent providers of mental health care. Cygnet is now entering an exciting period of growth and we are looking to appoint a Payroll Administrator to join our New Service Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton opening in Summer 2024.

At Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton you will be working 40 hours per week working 09:00 till 17:00 working Monday to Friday.

Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton is our new state-of-the-art PICU & Acute hospital for men, in the West Midlands. The service will be opening in mid-2024.

The service will feature two wards. A 12 bed PICU ward and a 17 bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton will have a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and will support the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Day to Day:

Full end-to-end pay cycle processing, including;

  • Adding starters, leavers, contractual and personal detail changes
  • Processing of statutory payments
  • Changes to pensions including opt in/out and employee requests
  • Processing of salary sacrifice arrangements ensuring NLW compliance
  • Processing of pay relating to hours worked, allowances, bonus and other amounts as requested by the business
  • Processing of deductions as required and in line with any applicable regulatory requirements
  • Monitor cycles for breaches in NLW
  • Review pay cycle information to identify and resolve any inconsistencies, errors or inefficiencies
  • Identify and report any over or underpayments to the Payroll Manager providing sufficient evidence
  • Ensure that all payrolls have the appropriate level of authorisation at local level
  • Process supplementary payments ensuring that back up documentation is present where required
  • Where manual payments are raised outside the pay cycle, these are then processed correctly in the subsequent run

Communication:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with on-site teams to ensure that information flows are reliable, accurate and timely
  • Monitor the Payroll Portal to respond and resolve requests in line with our Service Level Agreements
  • Provide support on the Amazon connect telephone system, ensuring that stakeholders are treated in a professional and helpful manner and any requests are logged as required
  • Review central email inboxes to identify, process and save information for designated sites

Personnel:

  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence and critical processing
  • Keep up to date with changes to payroll legislation
  • Support the implementation of new processes and systems

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Payroll Officer/Payroll Services Advisor to join the Payroll Services team to support our payroll shared services for clients across the Black Country and beyond, processing circa. 28,500 employees.

Based in Wolverhampton or Stoke Upon Trent, you will be responsible for a section of payroll for day to day processing, inputting and calculation associated with providing an excellent payroll service.

Main duties of the job

Payroll processing, accurately calculating and administering a designated payroll portfolio including all variations to pay and details affecting pay for staff concerned.

Dealing with employees queries through various communication methods.

The payroll system uses a dedicated NHS system; Electronic Staff Record (ESR) this is an Oracle based system. Experience of Oracle or ESR is highly desirable. An excellent understanding of statutory legislation together with a sound knowledge of IT is essential. You should be able to use Word, Excel and Outlook confidently. Knowledge of EASY would be helpful but not essential.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous Payroll Experience in NHS Payroll/Expenses
  • Experience of complex payroll calculations
  • Experience of Microsoft Applications, including Excel and Word

Desirable

Payroll Officer

In this post, you will be responsible for:

  • day to day processing, calculation and inputting of all payroll changes in line with agreed policies and legislation
